Callus and Corns:
Callus - Is a thickened layer of skin that develops over areas of continual excessive pressure and friction on your feet. Typically, over bony prominences or areas of abnormal pressure due to structural abnormalities of the feet or ill-fitting footwear. If left untreated they can be very painful and if left around the heel, they can lead to cracks "heel fissures". This is an opening in the skin and can lead to a significant amount of pain and possibly an infection.
Corns - These initially start off as a callus which overtime gets pushed deeper into the skin causing "thorn like" pain. These are different to a callus and have a core in the middle which is the most painful part of the lesion.
How can we help?
- Treatment involves hygienically sharps debriding the callus and enucleating the corn using a sterile blade. - This treatment provides instant relief and is SIMPLE, QUICK and PAINLESS. We then moisturise your feet to leave them feeling fresh and rejuvenated. - In some cases where callus and corns are constant, our podiatrists may provide you with felt padding, footwear modifications and/or foot orthotics to alter how you walk and reduce how often you need treatment.
